# Subscription management

> Choose a plan, start a trial, manage payment details and invoices, change plans, or cancel future renewals.

**Settings → Billing** is the starting point for your plan, billing contact, payment method and invoices. Owners and people with billing management access can make changes. Other members can ask the account owner; joining an existing paid account does not require every member to buy a separate subscription.

## Choose your signup path

| Entry | What happens |
| - | - |
| General **Sign up** | Sign in or create your identity, then choose Personal, Pro or Team. No plan is preselected. |
| **Choose Personal**, **Choose Pro** or **Choose Team** on Pricing | The chosen plan is carried into onboarding. Review it before continuing to Stripe. |
| Invitation or existing membership | Sign in and open the existing account. Its owner manages the subscription. |
| Enterprise | Contact sales for agreed access, allowances and billing terms. |

An existing signed-in user can proceed without another login. An anonymous user sees login first. This session behavior does not select a paid plan or charge a card.

Personal asks for your own details and gives you private work without company or team setup. Pro and Team provide company setup and collaboration. Team features that need a higher plan remain visible with an Upgrade option; a missing administrative permission is shown separately.

## Card, trial and first payment

Personal has a 7-day eligible trial with 2,000 Credits. Pro and Team have 14-day eligible trials with 5,000 and 15,000 Credits. See [Credits and usage](/billing/credits) for the full paid allowances.

Trials are a one-time offer per eligible customer. Changing plans or creating another account does not guarantee another trial. Ineligible customers see a paid checkout and can be charged immediately after confirmation. Optional Credit purchases are also charged immediately during a trial.

## Billing contact, cards and invoices

Keep the account's legal name, billing email, address and tax details up to date through the available billing controls. Invoices use the billing contact, which can differ from the user's sign-in email.

Use the Stripe billing portal opened from Billing to update the payment method, review invoices and download available invoice documents. Account invoice history lists the corresponding invoices; a draft is not yet a payable invoice.

Production billing emails include trial-ending reminders, upcoming renewals, expiring-card notices and failed-card-payment notices. Their payment-update and subscription-management links lead to Stripe-hosted pages.

<Note>
QA uses Stripe test mode and separate customers, products and prices. Stripe does not send its trial reminder emails in sandbox mode. Other sandbox email delivery is restricted; generating a test invoice does not guarantee an email reaches an arbitrary address. Use a verified recipient or an active Stripe team member where supported, and verify the invoice and hosted link directly.
</Note>

## Upgrade or change plans

Open Billing and use the offered plan-management action. Review Stripe's confirmation for the effective date, proration and amount due. A plan change can create a prorated adjustment.

Changing a plan during a trial preserves the existing trial end date. It does not start a second trial. Credit allowance changes follow their billing-period grant rules; included balances are not repeatedly stacked by changing plans.

Personal can upgrade when collaboration is useful. The workspace selector displays the account's current plan, and higher-plan features show the relevant Upgrade action.

## Discounts

If a discount has been agreed for your account, Stripe's invoice and subscription details show its value and duration. Your account owner or an authorized billing administrator manages any agreed discount.

A subscription discount reduces the recurring plan charge without reducing its Credit allowance. Optional Credit purchases use their own checkout price. At expiry, or after Admin removes the discount, subsequent plan charges return to the normal price; removing it does not rewrite a finalized invoice.

## Cancel and keep your plan

Choose the cancellation action in Billing or the Stripe portal. Review the displayed end date before confirming. Cancellation stops future subscription renewals at period end; you retain access for the remaining paid period or trial.

* Cancel during an eligible trial before it ends to avoid its first recurring charge.
* Cancel a paid subscription to stop its next renewal. Period-end cancellation does not automatically refund the current period.
* Credit top-ups already purchased are separate from the recurring subscription.
* Use the offered **Keep plan** action before the scheduled cancellation takes effect to restore renewal.
* After cancellation has completed, use the offered reactivation checkout. A new trial is not guaranteed.

Cancellation does not delete your account or content. Do not use account deletion as a substitute for managing a subscription.

## Failed payments

If a recurring card payment fails, use the billing email's Stripe-hosted link or open Billing to update the card. Stripe can retry payment under the account's recovery settings. Continued nonpayment can restrict work or end the subscription after the configured recovery process.

If a plan change or payment is still synchronizing, refresh Billing after Stripe confirms it. Contact [Erstan support](mailto:support@erstan.com) with the invoice number for a charge you do not recognize.

## On Account customers

Enterprise can use agreed On Account terms. An authorized Admin manages the customer, billing contact, allowances and invoices according to the agreement. Payment follows the invoice's terms instead of the standard self-service card trial.

An On Account invoice can have a hosted Stripe invoice link where configured. Standard self-service users cannot select On Account to bypass card checkout.
